“I remember collecting up each of my teddy bears, dolls and animals and getting them ready for their adventure of the day. A neatly tied plait… a straightened bow tie… and party hat for everyone. Then off we went to the bottom of the garden for our teddy bears’ picnic where I was certain we would be “sure of a big surprise”. Just like my Mum would do when we went on our family picnics, I’d lay the tartan blanket and make sure there was a place around the party circle for everyone. The wicker basket was filled with make believe tea and cake from my play kitchen and I would sing and chat and feel very grown-up playing hostess.”
